'Focus on the Agreement' is a new daily segment broadcast on Radio Tamazuj to explain the contents of the peace deal signed in August 2015 between South Sudan's warring parties.

In the previous two episodes we discussed the permanent ceasefire. Today we continue this series by looking at the question of where the soldiers of the warring parties will be assembled after the war.

According to Chapter II, Article 2 of the peace agreement, the forces of both warring parties must gather at designated assembly sites. The forces based in Jonglei, Unity and Upper Nile states and other conflict-affected areas, and also those in Juba should not stay in front line positions but instead should withdraw to the designated areas.

The parties to the peace agreement must choose locations that are accessible by both air and road, are distant from the civilian population, are near to water sources, and are situated far from borders with neighboring countries.

These locations should be decided by representatives of the parties at a workshop on permanent ceasefire arrangements.

With the assistance of the African Union, the Monitoring and Verification Mechanism and the UN Mission in South Sudan, the warring parties will register all of their personnel, register the wounded, sick, disabled and elderly, and register weapons, ammunition and other equipment.

They will also arrange for medical treatment and evacuation. The weapons and munitions of the warring parties should be securely stored at the assembly sites, according to the peace agreement.
