Egypt's president sends special message to Kiir

Egypt’s foreign minister Sameh Shoukri on Monday delivered a special message to South Sudan President Salva Kiir from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi during his visit to Juba today.

According to a press statement by Shoukri, in the written message al-Sisi focused on solidarity and bilateral relations between the two nations. “Egypt stands with South Sudanese so that they can realize their aspirations and obtain their security and stability,” he said.

The Egyptian official reiterated their commitment to support South Sudan’s national dialogue in a bid to bring about peace and unity between the people of South Sudan.” Egypt will continue playing its role and provide all the facilities in the field of capacity-building,” he said.

The visiting foreign minister said his government is looking forward to boosting relations with South Sudan in all domains.

For his part, Mayiik Ayii Deng, Minister in President Kiir’s office expressed appreciation for deeply-rooted relations binding Egypt with South Sudan, saying his country is keen on boosting relations with Egypt given its pivotal role in the region.
