Refugees at Doro camp in Maban County in Upper Nile state border complained of lack of food and tarpaulins amid increasing cases of malaria and diarrhea.

Alsimit Ahmed, an omda (tribal leader) of Blue Nile refugees in Doro camp told Radio Tamazuj that the refugees complain of lack of food and plastic sheeting under the increasing rainfall.

Alsimit explained that food provided by the humanitarian organizations has become inadequate for the families and referred to the increasing number of newly arriving people to the camps fleeing from Blue Nile areas. A lot of them have not been distributed food, forcing families to share food, which will cause them to run out of their share before the end of this month.

Omda Ahmed also complained of lack of tarpaulins in the camp under continuous rains at this time of year, and he pointed to the rising incidence of malaria due to mosquito breeding.

He also express fears of the high rates of diseases among children (diarrhea, malnutrition and intestinal diseases) and referred to all this in connection to the lack of services, food, health and sanitation in the camp, leading to a large number of deaths among children and mothers, and asked concerned organizations to provide required assistance.
