Defense ministry official killed in Juba

A military official working at South Sudan’s defense ministry has been shot and killed when the house in which he lived came under attack on the outskirts of Juba town on Thursday.

Nobody has arrested for involvement in the incident and no one claimed responsibility for the death.

Family members and colleagues at work told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that Mading Abraham Mabior, a director at the Pension Department in the ministry of defence, was shot dead at Juba Two residential area on 8 March.

The pointed out that Mading was living in Lologo area within Juba before relocating to the area of Juba Two. His body was laid to rest on Monday 12 March at Shirkat.

Colleagues described late Mading as a highly trained officer in the SPLA army, who spent many years undergoing internal and external trainings. He spent years in Ethiopia where he received trainings on tanks command after attending a number of infantry training.

Alier Ayom, head of the SPLA pension confirmed the death of Mading whom he described as great, intelligent and disciplined officer.

“As to who kill him, investigation is being conducted but so far, nobody has been identified but efforts are being exerted to establish the truth,” he said.
