The mobile network operator, MTN has donated hygiene materials to the COVID-19 taskforce in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State to combat the spread of the pandemic.

Abataki Stephen, the MTN representative at the handover ceremony, told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that the donation was aimed at protecting frontline health workers in the fight against coronavirus.

“The MT Company has donated the equipment to support our communities in Yei Civil Hospital. We have brought five boxes of handwashing liquid soap, two boxes of hand sanitizers, 400 pieces of facemasks and 400 pairs of gloves,” he explained.

Speaking on behalf of the COVID-19 taskforce, Rebecca David appreciated MTN’s support to the people of Yei, saying the items will help health workers in preventing the spread of the pandemic.

“We are happy to receive the donation, which came because there is a community transmission of COVID-19. We urge the public to stick to the COVID-19 preventive measures,” she said.
