Body of Malong’s daughter to be flown home for burial

The family of former South Sudanese army chief has decided to bring back the body of their daughter who died in Nairobi following the devastating dormitory inferno recently to Juba before burial at home in Aweil East.

Lucy Ayak, the wife of General Paul Malong Awan, told Radio Tamazuj today that the body of Alakiir Malong has been positively identified following the completion of DNA examinations in Nairobi.

She pointed out that that they went to Chiromo Mortuary to view the body.” We have identified the body of our daughter among the victims,” he said.

Lucy further said the family decided that Alakiir’s corpse will be flown to South Sudan on Friday. “We are doing some arrangements and on Friday the body will be taken back to Juba and then to our hometown,” she said.

She noted that the former army chief Paul Malong will not be able to travel to Aweil East because the government has refused to allow him to bury his daughter at home. “Prayers will held in Juba first so that General Malong can attend the prayers then the body will be buried at home,” she said.
