Eastern Lakes state government has promised to bring to book the killers of a paramount chief and his son from the neighboring state.

Chief Mayek Biling and his son were gunned down by armed assailants in South Sudan’s Western Lakes State at the beginning of the month. The incident happened as he was traveling with his son to Akot Payam in Eastern Bahr Naam County of Eastern Lakes state to attend a peace conference between feuding communities of Western and Eastern Lakes states.

Governor Mangar Buong Aluonge’s spokesman Puorchien Matueny Makeny told Radio Tamazuj on Saturday that member of the governor and his cabinet are currently visiting Aluak-luak area in which the chief was killed for a peace tour.

"The government of Eastern Lakes state would do everything to address the issues of insecurity. We are determined to find perpetrators and once they are found, the law will take its course,” said Puorchien.

He further said government officials will also disseminate peace messages encouraging the communities to live in peace.
