Authorities ask for support to secure farming lands in South Kordofan

Local authorities in Abu Jabeha in South Kordofan have asked for army support in the border areas with South Sudan to provide security for the villages and agricultural projects in the cooler seasons.

A spokesman said farmers need security to tend to agricultural projects and ensure access to enter the areas for the growing season.

The threat of insecurity in Abu Jebeha recently closed two agricultural companies in the area, Reem and Tabarak. Thousands of people from the outskirts of Abu Jebeha recently fled into the town fearing outbreak of fighting between Sudan Armed Forces and SPLA-North.
