The South Sudanese army leadership has handed over to the education ministry a school it had occupied in Fashoda State over the last five years.

Government troops occupied Kodok Secondary School in 2014 and turned it into a military barracks when war broke out in the Upper Nile region.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Fashoda’s information minister, Abdallah Kur said the school handover to the state education ministry was done by the military in the presence of various state officials.

“Under the implementation of the peace agreement, the school has been handed over and this will serve the community,” said Abdallah.

According the state minister, Kodok Secondary School comprises of rooms for teachers as well as a boarding section for the students.

Fashoda State is located in the country’s greater Upper Nile region.
