Activists in Aweil to start dissemination of peace deal

Civil society organizations in South Sudan’s Aweil State say they will fully participate in the dissemination of the revitalized peace agreement in a bid to promote peace among local communities.

Bulis Nguak, program manager for Help Restore Youth Organization told the press that it is important to engage local communities in the pursuit of peace in the country. He urged local communities to embrace peace for development.

A representative for Wun-Anei Development Agency Santino Diing Ngong, said they are committed to disseminating messages on the peace agreement but acknowledged funding challenges that hinder the activities and plans of local civil society organizations.

For his part, Aweil State acting assembly speaker, Arkangelo Biet Wol, said the assembly is ready to support peace dissemination in all constituencies but added that they are waiting for the final copy of the agreement before the awareness campaigns officially start across the state.
